Welcome to Riley's Hobbies & Books: Meet the Real Nikkie

Hello, and welcome!

My name is Nikkie, and I’ve been steeped in the blogging and book world since 2013. I've reinvented myself many times through the years, just as we all do, as I've grown and learned to be comfortable in my own skin. A while back, I stepped away from blogging because I didn't have the confidence to continue. I kept up my passion on social media, and through time, I've developed the motive and excitement to come back to the blogosphere!

Why "Riley"?

I’ve had many blog names over the years, but I’m finally settling in with Riley's Hobbies & Books. "Riley" is a name I created for myself in games like IMVU and Sims that I've truly come to adore. No matter what, I've always stayed true to my love of reading and my passion for getting into games.

What Can You Expect?

I really hope that you enjoy this blog as time progresses. I can't promise daily content—I have ADHD and I'm not perfect—but what I can promise is passionate and quirky blogs every time I post!

I plan to focus on these core areas:

• Blog Tours & Book Reviews

• Bookish and Gaming Content

• Random Gaming Antics (get ready!)

• Occasionally, I will post something mental health related.

I realize my posts aren't going to be for everybody, and I'm okay with that. My goal isn't to gain thousands of followers; my goal is to post about things I really love and find people who are just as passionate about these things as I am. I spent my whole life feeling alone with nobody who shared the same passions as me. I’ve found my people over the years, but I haven't forgotten that feeling I had growing up.

Currently Obsessed: Reading & Gaming

To end this on a humble note, I'm currently juggling a few books. I’m really behind on my goal this year—the first half wasn't great for me due to a major reading slump. I'm having to kick it into high gear now that we are in the final month! I have many library books and blog tour books to get through. I may be behind, but I fully plan to get caught up!

As for gaming, I'm currently obsessed with Cafeland. I played it a long time ago, but recently decided to pick it back up. It’s the closest I have to getting back a game named Cafe Life that shut down—a game my mother and I both loved very much.

I also plan to start playing Sims again soon! I've taken a break recently, but I'm ready to get back into it. My current Sim is Lyra (well, she will be once she's born!). I'm going to have a lot of fun growing Lyra up and gaining skills and aspirations. I hope you'll be along for the journey!
